In just a few minutes, it will be the 3 year anniversary of the passing of my Brother in Love,
Duane,
AKA The Blueberry Muffin.
(sigh...) It seems like just yesterday we got the call to race to the hospital to possibly say good-bye.
It was surreal.
We thought his mom was just being dramatic.
Martin had JUST spoken with him, face to face, the evening before.
How could he possibly be in the hospital on life support after having just seen him??
His heart had stopped for 30 minutes, but the doctors got it to beating again.
He went into cardiac arrest a second time.
He should have been dead on February 2nd.
But he held on.
So did we.
Hoping.
Signs of improvement.
And then nothing.
Finally, the verdict: Brain dead.
Nothing left to do.
I miss you, Duane.

Sorry you had to go through the loss, it is so hard and it never goes away.
I love that you wrote about this and shared these fun photos of him--I wish I had known him, he sounds wonderful and I am so sorry for your loss.
